The 29 (-A was never specified in catalogs) was listed in the 1946 price list, in the 1947 it had the same listing but was marked "this model not available in 1947". The Savage parts manual states that the 29-A started 1940 and those had the octagon brl. Yes it is a great rifle, round barrel, checkered stock and very accurate with iron sights. It has a 1930"s Green Savage hang tag similiar to other Hang Tags I have for other Savage Rifles and Shotguns from the 1930"s. Rick said last week that he"s still trying to piece the puzzle of the 29A dates together. My 29A is only 2000 numbers off your serial number.Ībout as close as I can get is sometime in the `40"s. He was in his 70"s and said he got it as a Christmas Gift from his dad when turned 12. Can anyone tell me that date of Manufacture for a 29A S/N 43365L? I bought it from the orginal owner back in the early 1990"s.
